Customer Review: Very good value and, so far, very good pans.

We've heard a lot of good things about Circulon non-stick pans, so when it was time to replace our old 12-inch pan because it was sticking, Circulon was the brand we were most eager to try. Though the fact that the company was having a sale at the time, didn't impede that decision. And this was the best bargain we found. A 12-inch Circulon pan alone, on sale, at Kohls, cost more than what we paid for this set of three pans including shipping from Amazon, and the only difference was the handle (model sold at Kohls could withstand slightly higher temperatures in the oven, which we never put frying pans in the oven, so that wasn't a concern). As for it's quality, we haven't had this set long enough to say, but so far these pans look promising. They certainly seem as good as any of the others we've used in the past from Farberware and other name brands. And the curved, rubberized plastic handle is more comfortable. I don't know if the professional reviews I've read were based on actual qualified testing of the non-stick coating, or just blind acceptance of Circulon's claims, as is all too common with product evaluations these days that are more publicity pieces than competently tested evalutions; but at this price, I figure even if the pans hold up no better than most, it'll still be a bargain for the $50 we spent.
I wasn't sure I'd like the ribbed surface of the bottom of the pan, but I can't even tell it's not smooth when cooking and it cleans up just as easily as a flat bottomed pan. The base also helps the bottom heat more evenly than our previous 12-inch non-stick pans, which would cook food in the middle of the pan almost twice as fast as ingredients closer to the edges. For the money, these pans have a very solid build. They're light-weight, but leave no reason to worry that the pan itself won't hold up at least as long as the non-stick coating, even if the surface holds up as well as advertised.
If the long term reliability of non-stick coatings has you reluctant to pay over twice the price of this set for a single non-stick pan like we are, I don't think you can go wrong giving Circulon a try. Worst case scenario, the pans should still last longer than others similarly priced, far longer if we can believe the product claims and reviews.
