Customer Review: a pleasure to use each morning

This teakettle has clean lines and looks substantial but minimalist on the stove, which is why I liked it. I liked it much better upon use - making it a pleasure to use each morning.
What I love best about it is the whistle, which makes a low but penetrating hum that begins before a boil and progresses to a dogged rattle sound at boiling temp. The humming at pre-boil is an unusual, attention-grabbing tone that travels across several rooms yet is not disturbing to hear at close range. This seems very intentional in it's design and a quality I am thankful for whenever I use it.
The kettle is of good construction in the body and handle. The lid is double-walled and insulated so it can be removed without mitts even after heating.
One potential weakness is the plastic finger plunger mechanism that raises the whistle from the spout - mine broke when I shipped it across the planet; maybe this was my oversight in packing procedure, but it may need to be treated gently. (I plan to purchase another soon as these were extenuating circumstances that do not detract from my enthusiasm for this product.)
